Ken Rosewall
The 85-year-old is a former professional tennis player who participated in several tournaments at the Australian Open, both individually and in the doubles. He has won the singles four times; in 1953, 1955, 1977 and 1972. In the doubles, he won three of them, in 1953, 1956 and 1972. He is one of the best in the tournament’s history.
Roy Emerson
Emerson is a previous World Number One tennis player. He is one of the best talents to participate in the Australian Open. The 83-year-old has won six single finals in the tournament. The wins were in 1961, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966 and 1967. He was also a team player and won the doubles thrice, in 1962, 1966 and 1969. Before retiring in 1983, he had significant match-winning performances in the tournament.
Novak Djokovic
The world number one men’s professional tennis player is one of the best in the tournament’s history. The Serbian is not done with writing history since he is still active in the tournament, winning the latest edition of 2020. He has the most Australian singles wins with eight. He also has two doubles.
Rodney Heath
The late Heath was the pioneer winner of the tournament in 1905. Before his demise in 1936, he had won two singles in 1905 and 1910. He also had two doubles from the Open. One was in 1906 and the other 1911. He will be remembered for being the first winner of the competition.
