Public liability insurance is a hot topic at present. Consequently many companies are investigating their exposure and rationalising their insurance premiums. The Pilates Alliance is actively seeking similar arrangements with alternative Insurance organisations. We will advise further. The Pilates Alliance advises that all teachers/instructors of the Pilates Method should obtain adequate insurance for themselves according to the situation they are employed in.

Health Funds Rebate
The Pilates Alliance is actively seeking to encourage the understanding of the role of a Pilates instructor in the prevention and correction of health and physical conditions. The industry regulation of Pilates by the Pilates Alliance as a non-bias organisation is a step toward greater understanding and further acceptance by the national health funds and Workcover. Currently, as an instructor of Full membership standing, you may seek rebates from the health funds as listed below;

• MBF
• Australian Health Management (AHM)
• CBHS Health Fund Limited
• GMF Health Fund
• Health Care Insurance Limited (HCILTD)
• Teachers Federation Health

The PAA health fund report has been updated and expanded; it is still a work in progress as approaches have been made by the PAA for all our qualified Pilates instructors to be recognised in their own right for their qualifications, rather than Pilates only by a qualified Physiotherapist.  The above are just those with who we have a specific arrangement, there are more health funds that recognise Pilates by qualified Pilates Instructors as indicated in the latest report.  Full PAA members may request this report from the administrator admin@pilatesalliance.net

Workcover
Workcover will assess the requirements of each case individually and approve accordingly. You will need to be of full membership standing to be accepted by Workcover as a properly trained instructor.
